ColorLink® designs, manufactures, and sells innovative polarization control solutions for commercial, industrial, and defense applications. Products now include Retardation Plates, Spectral Filters, Polarizers, Optical Shutters, and custom Optical Assemblies.
Optical quality polymer films, in single- and multi-layer designs provide price and performance advantages over conventional polarization control approaches. In addition, liquid crystal devices from ColorLink add switching capability for those applications requiring dynamic operation.
Application-specific design assistance ensures your performance requirements are met, while working within your budget. Wavelength Specific Polarization Control (WSPC) provides another degree of design freedom, where a single component can perform differently at two or more discrete wavelengths.
Our unique manufacturing processes enable fabrication of high transmission components with minimum absorption, reflection, and scatter losses. Environmentally robust, ColorLink products withstand broad thermal conditions. Cost-effective, wafer-scale production techniques also ensure excellent part-to-part uniformity.

By definition, a Spectral Filter changes the power spectrum distribution of the light incident upon it. All Spectral Filters currently available from ColorLink share a few common properties – all operate in transmission and utilize our unmatched ability to analyze, design, and deliver polarization control solutions.
Two basic Spectral Filter types are now available from ColorLink – active and passive. Our ColorSwitch® provides active RGB switching at microsecond speeds. Passive Spectral Filters from ColorLink are now viewed as a viable alternative to multilayer dielectric interference filters, especially in cost sensitive applications requiring large apertures or wide acceptance angles.

A Polarizer accepts an unpolarized input beam and converts it to either a linear- or circular-polarized output. Linear and Circular Polarizers are now available from ColorLink. Both Polarizer types take advantage of dichroic sheet material, typically sandwiched between antireflection-coated glass substrates.
ColorLink Polarizers are lightweight, rugged, and thin. These Polarizers are relatively insensitive to incidence angle, produce negligible beam deviation, and can be manufactured in a variety of sizes and shapes using our unique assembly process.

Our Optical Shutter product family includes both two-state and continuously variable devices used to control the amount of time or intensity that a light-sensitive material is exposed to optical radiation.
Key features of our Optical Shutters include high-speed operation, high purity linear polarized output, high transmission, and maximum extinction ratio performance. Since these devices are solid state – undesirable mechanical motion, associated noise, and vibration problems are eliminated.

Custom Optical Assembly is now available from ColorLink. Our extensive experience in display color management has led us to develop low-stress lamination techniques useful in most any flat optical assembly requirement.
From simple to complex, prototype to high volume – ColorLink has proven manufacturing capabilities in the US and Japan addressing many application areas. Wherever polarization-based optical systems are combined with other optical components, you can count on ColorLink to analyze, design, and deliver a cost-effective solution.

A Retardation Plate (or waveplate) resolves a polarized light beam into two orthogonal components, retards the phase of one component relative to the other, and then recombines the two to form a single beam with new polarization characteristics.
ColorLink now provides two types of custom Retardation Plates – Achromatic and Zero-Order. Each is designed for specific customer requirements and manufactured using our unique production assembly process. These affordably priced Retardation Plates utilize optical quality, birefringent polymer films and provide price and performance advantages over conventional crystalline waveplates. |
