By definition, a Spectral Filter changes the power spectrum distribution of the light incident upon it. For example, an ideal (or perfect) bandpass filter transmits all light in one spectral region and blocks (or rejects) all other radiation.
Spectral Filters currently available from ColorLink® share a few common properties – all operate in transmission and utilize our unmatched ability to analyze, design, and deliver polarization control solutions. Two basic Spectral Filter types are now available from ColorLink – active and passive.
All ColorLink active Spectral Filters are competitively priced with low power consumption – often suitable for portable, hand-held, and battery powered applications. Our ColorSwitch® provides dynamic RGB switching at microsecond speeds. Our line of solid-state SnapWave™ Spectral Filters serves applications traditionally addressed with spinning filter wheels, with no moving parts.
Passive Spectral Filters from ColorLink include bandpass, edge, single- and double-notch filters. Passive ColorLink Spectral Filters are now viewed as a viable alternative to multilayer dielectric interference filters, especially in cost sensitive applications requiring high transmission, large apertures, or wide acceptance angles.
Common Spectral Filter applications include display color generation, medical diagnostics, microscopy, remote sensing, and spectroscopy. Many of these applications inherently use polarized optical systems. ColorLink takes full advantage of these pre-polarized light paths to provide more efficient and effective Spectral Filtering.
