General Information
Field sequential display systems provide the highest resolution at the lowest cost for consumer projection display products. The light engines for such products demand a reliable and flexible color generation solution. ColorLink® has developed, patented, and now manufactures an electronically switchable color filter…ColorSwitch®.
 

Product Description
ColorSwitch is a transparent device, containing liquid crystal switches and patented technology for chromatically manipulating polarization. ColorSwitch features independent electronic control of the RGB transmission levels providing additive and subtractive primary outputs as well as Black and White. Analog control permits active color balance and switching between display standards. Sequences can easily be changed on-the-fly, with no fundamental requirement for a repetitive periodic output. The architecture is robust, using the LC switches to determine luminance, without influencing chrominance during switching. Our additive drive-to-black design provides maxi-mum brightness without color mixing during transitions.

Spectral Characteristics
The high transmission and low leakage of ColorSwitch® spectra are directly compatible with current display industry standard color gamuts. The flexibility of the filter design allows the device to be tailored to specific white light sources.

  Response Time
ColorLink has significantly improved the switching speed of ColorSwitch. Switch On-time (from 10% - 90%), Switch Off-time (from 90% - 10%), and Average Switching time is provided below for each primary color.
