General Information
Novel color splitting and combining solutions are now possible with ColorSelect® filters. ColorLink® has developed a new technology using stacked retardation films for producing polarization based color manipulation filters. These high performance color polarizers allow new system architectures for liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) projection display systems. ColorSelect polarizer filters offer high transmission as well as narrow transition bandwidths and high color contrast. |

Product Description
ColorSelect filters utilize polarization, rather than thin-film interference or absorption effects for controlling color and are based on proprietary retarder stack technology. Retarder stacks efficiently rotate the state of polarization of a primary color band by 90°, while the complementary color band retains the input state of polarization. ColorLink offers stacks that rotate any of the additive or subtractive primary color bands. In addition, unique retarder stack designs are used to manufacture high performance achromatic rotators. Skew ray compensation elements to improve contrast in LCOS systems are also available.
Benefits
ColorSelect filters based on retarder stack technology offer the following advantages:
- High light transmission
- Steep slopes
- Flat passband profiles
- High color contrast
- Wide field of view
- Easy integration with other optical components
- Enable unique system architectures
- Easily tuned to meet desired color coordinates

Applications
ColorLink filters are ideally suited for color management in LCOS projection display systems. New compact high-performance architectures can be achieved with the use of these filters. ColorSelect filters can be used for a number of purposes including:
- Color splitting/combining
- Polarization conversion systems
- Polarizing screens
- Panel compensation
